Moving Supplies Checklist For A Smooth Relocation

by todayhomes

When you’re relocating, moving your things is one of the most exhausting yet crucial. Hence, when moving your things, you must understand the importance of having the right supplies and materials to protect your belongings.

In addition to protecting your things, having the right supplies will make your move quick and easy. That’s why before you rush into packing your belongings and sending them to your new address, you must first gather the right supplies and materials for your big move. Here is a checklist of the essential moving supplies that you will need for a smooth relocation:

Packing Boxes

The first thing on our checklist is packing boxes. It’s one of the most important packing supplies to transfer your belongings smoothly. A packing box is where you will place your things, especially fragile ones, for easy transfer.

Packing boxes are usually made of cardboard and are more than enough to protect your belongings from any outdoor hazards that can damage them. That’s why it’s crucial that you only use high-quality packing boxes. With that said, make sure to choose a moving material supplier like Ezi Storage to properly pack and protect your things.

Packing Tapes

The next thing on the checklist is the packing tape. Packing tapes seal the boxes and other containers to ensure that the things inside won’t fall out when carried. The packing tapes you will use should be made of heavy-duty material to ensure the boxes and containers remain sealed throughout the moving-out process.

Bubble Wrap

To ensure your fragile belongings are safe and secure, you shouldn’t forget to add bubble wrap to your moving supply checklist. You can use bubble wrap to protect your breakable belongings. What’s best with bubble wrap is that it can fit perfectly no matter what shape you’re going to wrap it with.

Most fragile things can experience excessive vibration and other unnecessary movements during the moving process. These factors can damage your fragile belongings. One way to prevent this is by properly wrapping them in bubble wrap to lessen excessive movement or vibrations.

Packing Paper

Aside from bubble wrap, packing paper can also protect your fragile items. Packing paper is commonly used for small breakable items like drinking glasses, mugs, cups, and bottles. It also separates items inside the boxes or containers to prevent them from clashing and avoid scratches and dents.

Compared to bubble wrap, packing paper is a more space-saving option. Don’t use packing paper as a replacement for bubble wrap, though. Packing paper is only good for separating items inside a box. Packing paper works best if used with bubble wrap.

Labelling Material

Now that we’ve listed the moving supplies that will protect and contain your belongings, it’s time to move on to the labelling supplies.

Labelling your things when moving is crucial. Since a lot of stuff gets moved around, finding something specific later might be difficult. With the help of labels, you won’t have to mindlessly open boxes left and right when you want to find something or if you start unboxing later on.

For example, markers are straightforward options for labelling as you can use them by simply writing (the name of the contents) directly on the box. If you don’t want to write on your boxes using a marker, a packing label is a good alternative. Most people who use packing labels on their moving boxes usually do it for aesthetic purposes.

Do note, however, that the former can damage your boxes. Given that they’re in good condition, you could sell your boxes after moving. Some moving material suppliers even offer a buy-back scheme where they will buy back your boxes. Using a label is a good option if you want to resell your box or preserve its quality for other purposes.

Box Cutter

Packing boxes are durable and can be difficult to open. Of course, we want our boxes to be exactly that. However, a box that’s durable and difficult to open might be a problem when you’re beginning to unpack your stuff.

This situation is where a box cutter comes in handy. Box cutters can easily open boxes for you when you start unpacking. Be careful; box cutters are sharp and can easily cause cuts and injuries.

Garbage Bags

You mustn’t also forget to add garbage bags to your checklist. When you pack your things from your current dwelling, you will be surprised by how much trash you will collect. Aside from collecting trash, a garbage bag can also be used to store other non-fragile items you may own, such as clothing, blankets, curtains, etc.

Garbage bags are also affordable options for packing non-fragile items instead of boxes. Make sure to use newer, heavy-duty garbage bags, as older ones can get damaged and might not do a good job of keeping your items safe.

Pack Your Things Properly

Moving can be a stressful event you can experience at some point. As a result of the stress, you might overlook packing your stuff. When moving, you can inadvertently damage some of your most precious belongings. Thankfully, moving doesn’t have to be that stressful. With extra caution and the things mentioned above, you can ensure your stuff is safe while moving.
